For the FGTB, climate change is one of the greatest challenges of the future. We are convinced that an ambitious climate policy is necessary:

Because it allows for job creation, the number one concern of the FGTB.

Because the health and well-being of workers are also part of union missions. And they are directly linked to the worker’s environment, including their workplace.

The FGTB has long advocated for better training for workers and for increased investment in research and development. In this light, the environment offers opportunities for quality jobs in future-oriented sectors.

The FGTB therefore wants to have a say in defining climate policy. Fighting against climate change is not just a matter of opportunity. Today, it is a matter of necessity. The climate crisis is and will be a social crisis. It is essential to organize today the inevitable transition to the world of tomorrow; a transition towards greater respect for the environment and greater social justice. 

This fair transition must lay the groundwork for transforming our societies into low-carbon societies.
