THE CLIMATE MARCH IN PRACTICE

The Gare du Nord is under construction. The exit to Place Simon Bolivar is closed – follow the detours: the station exit will be through the Solvay and Rogier exits.
Stewards and representatives from various member associations of the Climate Coalition will be there to guide you.

Set up a meeting on Boulevard du Roi Albert II – specifying a building number (between 16 and 33 – see the map above) these are large buildings, there is plenty of space for you to meet.

The CLIMATE MARCH is a march by and for citizens and civil society (non-profit organizations, citizen movements, non-governmental organizations). Political parties wishing to participate will take their place at the end of the procession.

P.S.: Choose something other than Exki, there is often an overload of meetings at that location (and it becomes harder to find each other).

The restrooms at the Gare du Nord require a fee.
We have arranged for composting toilets at Simon Bolivar Square. Relieve yourself before departure. There are no restrooms available for urgent needs along the route.

A big YES.

Children have more than ever their place! The CLIMATE MARCH is a family-friendly, festive, and public event. It aims to peacefully protest against the inaction of our country’s political leaders. The goal is to have a good time while showing that we want a healthy and livable future. For us… and for our children.

A whole host of activities is planned before and during the march to entertain young and old: brass bands, concerts, creative workshops,… Come a little earlier to make your signs.

Stewards throughout the march will also ensure the safety of everyone, especially the little ones. However, don’t hesitate to equip them with your phone numbers and colorful clothing.

Of course! While walking!

Indeed, for safety reasons cited by the police, you will need to walk beside your bicycle.

Even though we encourage you to ride your bike all the way to Brussels’ Gare du Nord.

Starting at noon, our members will set up to welcome everyone along Boulevard Simon Bolivar and Boulevard King Albert II.

Meet the street performers, friends, engage in conversations, enjoy drinks and food trucks while waiting for the start and recharging your energy.

At the intersection of these two streets, you will find a stage to listen to the demands of the Climate Coalition.

Obviously! It’s the best solution for arriving or departing!

Check the websites of the SNCBSTIBTEC and LIJN.

Premier conseil: Partez à TEMPS !

The Belgian National Railway Company (SNCB) is doing everything possible to ensure maximum transportation, including additional trains. Check here if your line is affected?

Consult the website or the SNCB app in advance for the latest information.

If you are coming by car, the easiest option will be to park on the outskirts of Brussels and then take public transport to the North Station.

Check the SNCB website or app in advance for the latest information.

Travelers heading to Ottignies/Gembloux/Namur take the train from Brussels-Schuman.

All other travelers take the metro at Schuman to Gare Centrale to catch their return train.

No worries. Send an email to vasb@pbnyvgvbapyvzng.or

Of course! And each day, a little more!

For the record (if you were born after 2010)

Two types of mobilizations took place:

On one hand, the street marches followed by all generations on Saturdays, and on the other, the youth and their school strike movement (yes! every Friday, instead of going to class, they too went out to march in the streets – It’s called Fridays for Future – they didn’t back down and asserted that studying on a planet in danger was pointless).

These mobilizations made it possible, when it seemed unthinkable at the time, to put climate issues on the political agenda thanks to years of sustained mobilization and awareness-raising, culminating in the massive climate marches of 2018 and 2019 (if you weren’t born or were a child: we were tens of thousands, young and old, in the streets for months demanding that climate urgency become a priority for our political leaders).

Look here, Adélaïde Charlier is explaining to you what impact this has had.

And today, it seems they’ve moved on to something else…?

Now more than ever, we need climate issues to take center stage!

That’s why we continue to MOBILIZE, that’s why we need YOU, each and every ONE of US.

In any case, it’s always more useful than staying in your bed or on your couch!
