FAQ 2025

The CLIMATE MARCH is

  • a spotlight on the issues and solutions
  • a peaceful gathering for all ages
  • a place where messages are sent in every form: signs, costumes, performances, music, juggling, dancing, anything goes to be seen,
  • a moment to raise public awareness, to inform everyone through the media,
  • a key action to put pressure on political decision-makers

Once a year, the Climate Coalition, which brings together over 100 organizations, takes on the task of gathering them around a common date and theme to march in the Climate MARCH.

This march is thus organized collectively, with preparatory work beforehand and political follow-up afterward. Sometimes, other collectives or organizations prepare marches or events, so stay alert to participate in those as well.

Everyone is welcome at the CLIMATE MARCH. It’s an intergenerational mobilization that allows everyone to express their needs, demands, and priorities, according to their perspective and age.

In 2023, a 99-year-old great-grandfather was the leader of the march; in 2022, it was leaders from indigenous communities of the Amazon rainforest…

And you? What drives you to march for the climate?

Among friends/colleagues: With a sign – a costume – a symbol

Create a clique: look here for how to do it?

On the big day:

  • Arriving from noon, there will be a lively atmosphere.
  • Follow safety instructions for the smooth running of the march.
  • Walk in a peaceful and positive atmosphere to convey our messages!

P.S.: Bring a water bottle and snacks & wear comfortable clothing suitable for the weather.

Before the march, download or pick up and share the visuals, the poster, join a flyering team.

On the big day and beyond: Share your experience, photos, or videos on social media to inspire others to join us, whether now or next year.

Yes, a march for the climate can have a significant impact, even if its effects are not always immediate. Here’s why:

  • Long-term impact: gradually shifts mindsets, policies, and economic practices.
  • Public awareness: media and public attention.
  • Pressure on policymakers: influencing political decisions.
  • Unity and inspiration: a sense of solidarity.
  • Tangible changes: leads to concrete advancements. For example, support for the European Green Deal.
  • To demonstrate that the fight against climate change is a collective cause.
  • To inspire and learn from other generations.
  • To unite diverse voices and send an even stronger message to policymakers.
  • In short, climate marches are an inclusive space where everyone can play a role, regardless of their age or background.

Of course! And each day, a little more!

For the record (if you were born after 2010)

Two types of mobilizations took place:

On one hand, the street marches followed by all generations on Saturdays, and on the other, the youth and their school strike movement (yes! every Friday, instead of going to class, they too went out to march in the streets – It’s called Fridays for Future – they didn’t back down and asserted that studying on a planet in danger was pointless).

These mobilizations made it possible, when it seemed unthinkable at the time, to put climate issues on the political agenda thanks to years of sustained mobilization and awareness-raising, culminating in the massive climate marches of 2018 and 2019 (if you weren’t born or were a child: we were tens of thousands, young and old, in the streets for months demanding that climate urgency become a priority for our political leaders).

And today, it seems they’ve moved on to something else…?

Now more than ever, we need climate issues to take center stage!

That’s why we continue to MOBILIZE, that’s why we need YOU, each and every ONE of US.

In any case, it’s always more useful than staying in your bed or on your couch!
